To celebrate the release of a new single, the Swedish duo Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäde, also known as Korallreven, put together this excellent mix. Tracklistings include music by Ghostape, Madlib, DJ Screw, Pure Ecstasy, Teengirl Fantasy, Toro Y Moi, 101 Strings, Joy Orbison, Kingdom featuring Shyvonne, Bien, and three of their own songs. Hear it at viceland.com .
Junior out tomorrow
Kaki King's new album, Junior, is due out tomorrow, but it's been online for some time. If you haven't heard it yet, you can stream it at spinner.com. Kaki King is a fabulous guitarist. Junior differs from her previous albums in that there are fewer purely instrumental tracks and more songs that showcase her skills as a vocalist. Songs that stand out include "The Betrayer" and "Everything has an End Even Sadness." Actually, I take that back. All of the tracks stand out. This is a great album.

Dr. Dog live
Are you tired of hearing about Dr. Dog yet? I'm not. They've been all over the news this week promoting their new album, Shame, Shame. I didn't post the video of Dr. Dog on Jimmy Fallon because frankly, they didn't sound great. Earlier this afternoon though, they recorded a live show in Philadelphia for World Cafe Live. I wish I could have been there because they were terrific. They open with "Stranger," a song I thought I'd heard one too many times, but Scott McMicken does a great job changing up his performance on lead guitar. Listen up:
More new music from The Hold Steady
Another song from The Hold Steady's album Heaven is Whenever is gathering attention on the blogs today. This one features a clarinet solo. Listen to "Barely Breathing" at Stereogum.

8tracks playlist
I'm sitting in my room eating coleslaw and I just discovered 8tracks.com. If you hadn't heard of it either, 8tracks is a website where you can create playlists and share them with the community. Apparently, most of the users listen to great music. After about 15 seconds of browsing, for example, I found this playlist, featuring live songs from My Morning Jacket, Radiohead, Wilco and Ryan Adams:
The downside of 8tracks is that you can only skip two or three songs in an hour, and the playlist remains hidden until each song is played. Otherwise, I think exploring the site and fuddling around with some playlists is worth the two minutes it takes to sign up. If you decide to join up with 8tracks, shoot me a friend request.

Wilco plans a festival
This August 13th-15th in Western Massachusetts, Wilco will curate a three-day festival called Solid Sound. The event will feature the band members' side projects, including Glenn Kotche's On Fillmore, John Stirratt's the Autumn Defense, Nels Cline's Nels Cline Singers, and Mikael Jorgensen's Pronto. Unfortunately, no Loose Fur. I suppose Wilco's performance on Saturday makes up for this omission. Tickets go on sale Friday at wilcoworld.net and solidsoundfestival.com.

New Chemical Brothers
I've listened to this a couple of times on my long drive home from Florida. I enjoy it, but the song isn't very danceable. Twitter critics are calling it boring. What do you think?
